While I totally agree with the 1st sentence of the last paragraph: "We don't get to choose our own reality",
I totally disagree with the 2nd: "Reality is what we observe it to be". That is a rather post-modernist view - and complete nonsense in my opinion. (I've never had much time for Berkeley and his paradox.)
Reality ‘is what it is’ - regardless of whether we happen to observe it or not. After all, reality goes back billions of years whereas "we" are only around for a few score years. Furthermore, even when/where we ARE around to observe it, our view of reality is quite limited. Our eyesight and other sensory organs are poor and we usually can only observe things on the outside.
