I disagree with your Pink Floyd entry. I love "Shine on you crazy diamond" (I bought the vinyl at the time and still have it - somewhere.) But I would say that it is more 'elegiac' than depressing - after all the key word is "shine" which is an uplifting word.

What could be more depressing that "You're just another brick in the wall"?
