I'm not getting this - is there a subtle nuance that I'm missing?

At the start of the article I get the distinct impression that Pelosi (encouraged by the Swigs) is against student debt cancellation. (viz "Nancy Pelosi’s admittedly unsurprising shift to being against the cancellation of student loan debt")

But then I read that the Swigs are FOR student debt cancellation? (viz "Swig’s organization known as Freedom to Prosper. An organization whose explicit goal is to cancel student loan debt"

Or is it just manoeuvring over who will get the credit and political kudos for student debt cancellation - when it finally happens?
