I don't know why you even bothered to write this - as you are clearly not qualified - and there are plenty of qualified people already writing on the subject. (Where are your citations by the way? Has Berkeley scholarship done away with them?)

Of course the fact that Omicron is mild is good news! It is also much more rapid spreading. This means it is well on the way to completely displacing Delta - and once gone, Delta isn't coming back. (And Delta itself was mild compared to its predecessors.)

This is how all pandemics pan out. (If you'll pardon the pun.)

As we leave the pandemic phase and enter the endemic phase, what we urgently need now, is a proper conventional vaccine for the long term. To replace these horrible genetically-modified "Franken-vaxes" currently being peddled (very profitably) by Pfizer and the like.

The Pfizer vaccine is not FDA approved by the way*.(*see update/clarification below) It is only to be used as long as there is an "emergency" - which isn't for much longer.

There are quite a large number of conventional vaccines currently in development - which is good news.

I guess that in the long-term, it will be very like 'flu - where vulnerable people can get a conventional 'flu jab (I only ever do so in a particularly bad year), but it must be renewed every year.

UPDATE/CLARIFICATION 2nd January 2021 (h/t to commenter Sarah Jayne Love)

FDA have approved a vaccine named “Comirnaty”. I understand that while materially it is identical to the currently-used Emergency-Use vaccine; legally there is a world of difference.
Pfizer managed to extort a raft of (frankly outrageous) legal immunities, indemnities, and exclusions for their emergency-use version — not just from the US government, but also from a large number of governments world-wide.
I very much doubt if these same immunities will be allowed to still apply under the FDA approval.
So, as long as the the EUA still applies, not a single vial of “Comirnaty” will see the light of day.
Also, we can expect Pfizer and their vast cohort of lobbyists and shills (including some on this here “Medium”) will:
1/ do everything in their (considerable) powers to get the emergency period extended for as long as possible;
2/ mount a concerted propaganda campaign to conflate the FDA-approved “Comirnaty” product (for which they will be liable) and the FDA-unapproved EUA product (for which they are indemnified).
